"N'awlins" and Baton Rouge, Louisiana With the Fam: Days 3 and 4

Our final days in Louisiana involved touring plantations and an unexpected walk around LSU campus. Thanks Leon for being our personal tour guide! :)

Caroline Chen (ihatepink) > The Jangs took us to a branch of Cafe Du Monde to sample beignets and Cafe Du Monde coffee. It was my parents' first time to have beignets in their entire life. :) MmmmMMMmmm!

Caroline Chen (ihatepink) > I shook most of that powdered sugar into my coffee, and then everything tasted about right. :)

Caroline Chen (ihatepink) > We went for a drive across Lake Pontchartrain. (Just remembered ... I think Vienna Teng had a song by this name ... and sure enough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d7F7fs9ZK8)

Caroline Chen (ihatepink) > A rough panorama along Lake Ponchartrain while driving along at 50+ mph. Thus the jagged edges. :P

Caroline Chen (ihatepink) > Saw some remnants of Katrina's destruction in an upper scale neighborhood. This wasn't even the worst of it. Many homes have been abandoned, with the full water damage very apparent.

Caroline Chen (ihatepink) > Sand bags left over from [futilely] trying to block out Mother Nature's rage.

Caroline Chen (ihatepink) > Fleur de Lis symbols were everywhere.

Caroline Chen (ihatepink) > A classic Caddy. I've always loved unapologetic yellow on cars. :)

Caroline Chen (ihatepink) > In addition to the brief chopsticks how-to I've always seen on paper chopstick wrappers, there was this brief history lesson ... too bad the timeline is way off. The Shang Dynasty was 1766-1122 BC, and Confucius lived from 551-479 BC. I'm sure there's *some* truth to what is written here, it's just a bit misleading ...
